The Korean Society for Brain and Neural Sciences invites you to submit proposals for a symposium for the  KSBNS 2023, which will be held from September 6 to 9, 2023, in Busan, located on the southern coast of South Korea.

For the first time since the outbreak of COVID-19, KSBNS 2023 will be held completely offline (no online lectures or attendance). We are looking to select high-quality symposia from all over the world. If you would like to organize a symposium, please complete the  Symposium Proposal Form and submit it by December 31, 2022. The academic program committee will review the symposium proposals after the submission deadline. Acceptance will be notified via email around late May, 2023. For further inquiries, please contact  neuro@ksbns.org.

Please follow the guidelines below:

1. Symposium organization

Each symposium should last 90-100 minutes, with 3-4 speakers presenting and discussing a coherent topic in neuroscience that should be of interest to a broad audience.

Each symposium should have 1 chairperson to moderate the session and lead discussion. Although one of the speakers can be designated as the chairperson if needed, we recommend a separate chairperson to maximize discussion.

Speakers and the chair should be included only upon their consent.

All speakers must be present offline at the venue (BEXCO, Busan) and no online participation will be allowed.

English should be used as the official language.

2. Selection criteria

Highest priority will be given to the symposium proposals that include a diverse group of participants (e.g., gender, race, and country of origin).

The academic program committee will give priority to the proposals of broader and outstanding interest to a general audience.

The academic program committee will give priority to the proposals that do not overlap with symposia themes from the prior annual meetings of KSBNS (see  LINK).

Symposium proposals composed of researchers with a wide range of methodologies and perspectives on a common theme are preferred.

3. Financial support

Once selected, financial support in the amount of up to 2,000,000 KRW will be provided to each symposium.

The participating speakers and chairs of selected symposia will have their registration fees waived.

Additional expenses (e.g., travel, accommodation, and other expenses) should be covered by the symposium participants and organizers themselves.
