The 2021 Joseph Altman Award was established with a fund donated to the Japan Neuroscience Society (JNS) by Dr. Shirley A. Bayer, a widow and long-term collaborator of late Dr. Joseph Altman. Dr. Joseph Altman, who discovered neurogenesis in the adult mammalian brain, received the International Prize for Biology from His Majesty the Emperor of Japan. Accordingly, the Award is to recognize up-and-coming researchers who have made remarkable achievements in the field of developmental neuroscience.

The JNS is now announcing the call for nominations for the 5th (2021) Joseph Altman Award. We will accept applications from all over the world. Therefore, we would appreciate it if your society could post information about the Call for Applications for the Award on its website and distribute the information to the members of the society (see below).
